According to Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, food or nutrition is a physiologic need of every human being which sustains everyday activities and functions. Without food, we cannot fulfill our tasks and obligations, even more so, pursue our dreams. Since it is our primary responsibility to ourselves to maintain a healthy body and promote longevity through nourishment, we should always bear into our conscious thinking that we should not take our bodies for granted and just put in food materials that will do no good to us.

Nature has endowed us with multitudes of gifts: from the fruit-bearing trees, vegetables and crops, to the fishes in the sea, poultry and livestock in the land to the eternal benefits of water. We are given these gifts to use for our health and nourishment. This article will present to you the 5 wonders of nature to maintain a healthy and good body and also, a slim figure.

Green


leafy vegetables: Foods like cabbage, broccoli, spinach, kangkong, cauliflower and moringa are rich in Vitamins A, which help in maintaining a good eyesight, Vitamin C to boost the immune system, Vitamin K which helps the body in blood clotting and folate for DNA repair. These vegetables also contain Iron which is vital in maintaining properly oxygenated blood cells and Calcium for the bones.

rich in Omega 3 Fatty Acid: Tuna, sardines, mackerel and salmon are rich in Omega 3 which is substantial in maintaining a healthy heart.

Maybe you are looking for eggs and milk and yogurt in the selection, right? These foods are actually really good for the body but the ones I included above are the food groups that are sometimes neglected by people. If I were to choose which among the five groups above will I always eat? I will choose all of them. Not only because they are wonder foods but also, they are priced cheaper in the market and groceries than triple cheese pepperoni pizza (which has a substantial amount of bad cholesterol). Moreover, you can produce these foods, especially the fruits and vegetables in your backyard. Remember, you are what you eat. Always maintain a good lifestyle and eat healthily!
